J.Lo & Her Louboutins

So Jennifer Lopez has been relatively out of the spotlight for quite some time ever since the birth of her twins, so her 2009 American Music Awards performance was meant to be a spectacular re-entrance onto the stage for the multi-talented artist. Unfortunately, the only thing people are discussing the next day was her onstage tumble as she attempted to debut her next single “Louboutins” live.
To be quite frank, I am not interested at all at the fact that she fell. From the looks of it, she did a fine job of bouncing right back up and continuing her performance. But ever since her song was leaked online, all I could wonder was what her performance Louboutins would look like. And then when I heard that the famed French shoe designer was making her a pair of custom creations, I couldn’t wait to see the shoes up close.
Of course, InStyle Magazine delivered the goods, reporting on the lace and gold sparkle peep-toe heels that sported the signature red sole. I’m afraid to say, that I think that the song is not worthy of these sartorial gems (the chorus is the line “I’m throwing on my Louboutins” repeated over and over…seriously J.Lo?!) The lyrics describe a break up in which J.Lo is going to “throw” on her Louboutins and walk out on her half-bit boyfriend. Excuse me, but no one “throws” around Louboutins. They’re like works of art, not any old pair of heels that you stomp around in to mess up a newly varnished hardwood floor.
Sure, Lopez looked sizzling in the ensemble that went with the sparkly heels, but I think all she should be thinking about is how grateful she is that she tumbled wearing sneakers instead of the said personalized pair. Honestly, how fabulously ironic (but hilarious) would that have been?
