I admit, I WAS WRONG!!!  Slated to just be hostess of the evening, Heidi Klum surprised the audience, and me, by walking the runway for the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.  I am happy to be proven wrong for speculating that Klum wanted to shy away with her post-baby body, and now that the secret’s out, viewers are definitely going to be tuning in in record numbers when the show airs on television in December.

Although Klum maintained her hostess status for the rest of the night, People Magazine reports that Klum took the runway dressed in a corset and full skirt.  Ok…not the scantily clad Heidi that we’re all used to, but the fact that she was not going to let her pregnancy get in the way of her 12 year VS streak is admirable, and is arguably a confident statement about a woman’s body in the light of a highly commercial brand.

Now the adamant statements about Heidi “just hosting” the show are made quite logical, as the company did a fabulous job at keeping their little surprise hush-hush.  Apparently even the celebrity audience had no idea, as the article explains that her appearance on the runway-as-model elicited screams from the crowd.  I’m sure they meant screams of excitement.

However, there were rumours early on in the year that new mom (and Angel) Adriana Lima was slated to be a part of the show in some capacity (she joked that she could be Santa Claus). Clearly, that became impossible when Lima gave birth to her daughter just four days ago.  I’m sure the show producers had to do some scrambling to readjust their lineup to make up for Lima’s absence…maybe Heidi’s runway appearance was a result of that?

Nevertheless, I for one cannot wait for the show the air, and watch Heidi cut those skinny bitches with her ferocity!
